I have been singing and humming this song to myself ever since the awesomely weird Sonya Tayeh used it in her partner jazz combo for the Vegas Week episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" Season 10. Sonya's piece itself starts around 3:45 if you want to check it out in the youtube video below. Some of my favorite things: (1) Amy, the incredible female dancer in the back left hand corner in the turquoise/color-blocked sports bra; (2) gorgeous Cece from New Girl sitting in as a guest judge and (3) the degree to which the judges are freaking out over these performances. Sonya's pieces are notoriously difficult even for those that dance within her genre, and the majority of these dancers (Fik-Shun, notably, who may have the most adorbs smile ever) are not jazz specialists.
The track to which I am now addicted is called "Latch" - the band is Disclosure. It's a good song for an easy or mid-pace run, or just to have on a general playlist of tunes you're digging. Disclosure just released their new album this month -- Settle -- here's the iTunes link for the album. Spotify users, here's your link. "Latch" is track 3 at both links, but there are several standouts.
And as usual on my blog, if you want to check it out on SoundCloud, here ya go...
I'm probably going to update this post with some downloadable remixes or mashups of Latch; trying to weed through and pick out some good ones.
Hope everyone has had a good one...the work week is almost over!
